Senile Election Day
When election coverage get asinine.
I am currently waiting for the returns to start coming in so I thought I would share some television coverage from earlier in the day.
On CP24 they were trying to discuss the idea of campaigning on-line to encourage youngsters and somebody decided they should take calls… and not bother to screen them. Around noon on a Tuesday, there apparently isn’t anyone watching CP24 except me and some seniles in assisted care. Call after call; seniors complaining about on-line disenfranchising the old in favour of the young. “I don’t have a computer! I can’t works the internetz!”
I might have a little more sympathy if it weren’t for the fact that 99% of the retired set I know have no problem sending e-mail or opening a browser. Of course the saddest part is that if they had bothered to turn their hearing aids up they would have noticed that this campaign to get the younger voters wasn’t there to replace other campaign methods.
The host of the show was all very apologetic to them, afraid to the truth. The truth that we don’t really care about getting the old folks out to vote, because they do vote, ergo no need to start a get out and vote campaign. Kind of like you don’t get dressed when you are already dressed.
So if you’re in the over 60 set and you want to have people encouraging you to register to vote… stop voting.
